Step 1: Check your spam or filtered messages folder
Before anything else, check whether the text arrived but got filtered. The steps differ by device:
iPhone (iOS)
- Open the Messages app
- Scroll to the top and tap Filters (top-left corner)
- Tap Junk or Unknown Senders
- Look for a message from 39229
- If you find it, open it and tap Report as Not Junk to move it to your main inbox
Android (Samsung / Messages by Google)
- Open your Messages app
- Tap the three-dot menu (top-right) and select Spam & blocked
- Look for a message from 39229
- If found, tap it and select Not spam or Restore to move it back
| Note: Steps may vary slightly depending on your Android manufacturer. If you don't see a Spam folder, search your messages for '39229'. |
Step 2: Make sure 39229 is not blocked on your phone
iPhone (iOS)
- Go to Settings > Messages
- Scroll down and tap Blocked Contacts
- Check if 39229 appears in the list
- If it does, swipe left on it and tap Unblock
Android (Samsung Messages)
- Open the Messages app
- Tap the three-dot menu > Settings > Block numbers and messages (or Block numbers)
- Look for 39229 in the blocked list
- Tap the minus icon or Unblock next to it if it appears
Android (Google Messages)
- Open the Messages app
- Tap your profile photo or the three-dot menu > Spam & blocked
- Look for 39229
- If found, tap and hold the conversation, then tap Unblock
Step 3: Allow messages from unknown senders
If your phone is set to filter all messages from numbers not in your contacts, GiftYa's short code will be silently blocked.
iPhone (iOS)
- Go to Settings > Messages
- Scroll to Filter Unknown Senders
- Toggle it OFF (so messages from unknown numbers are not filtered out)
- Once you receive your code, you can turn the filter back on if you prefer
Android
- Open the Messages app
- Go to Settings > Spam protection (or Message blocking)
- Turn off any setting that blocks or filters messages from numbers not in your contacts
Step 4: Contact your carrier if texts are still not arriving
Some carriers block short-code messages at the network level, especially on newer spam-filtering features (e.g., AT&T ActiveArmor, Verizon Call Filter, T-Mobile Scam Shield). If the above steps don't work, call your carrier and ask them to:
- Confirm that short-code messages are not blocked on your line
- Whitelist or allow short code 39229
- Check whether any spam or scam filtering is preventing delivery
| Tip: Let your carrier know the short code is 39229 and that the service is GiftYa (a legitimate US gift card platform). Carriers can typically whitelist a short code on the spot. |
Other quick things to check
- Signal: Make sure you have a strong cellular signal. Toggle Airplane Mode on and off to refresh your connection.
- Do Not Disturb / Focus Mode: These can suppress incoming texts. Disable them temporarily and request a new code.
- Full inbox: If your message storage is full, new texts won't arrive. Delete some messages and try again.
- Software update: Outdated iOS or Android software can cause SMS delivery issues. Check for and install any pending updates.
- Restart your phone: A simple reboot clears temporary network glitches.
Still not receiving the code?
If you've worked through all the steps above and still can't receive the verification text, contact us using the chat feature of email Support@giftya.com with your phone number and order number (if you have one). An agent can confirm whether texts are reaching our delivery provider and help you get into your account.
